A popular way to arrive in Key West from Miami is by taking a guided tour bus. One tour bus that leaves Miami will pick you up from your hotel, and bring you back there when you return. The bus leaves Miami at 8AM, and starts the return trip, from Key West, at 6PM. Arrival back at your hotel is around 10PM.
When you get on the bus you will be given a map of Key West, some time on the bus can be used to plan what you will do while in Key West. Make sure that you allow time to get from one site, to another, and back to the bus on time.
The tour can be completed in just over three hours but the bus will make at least one stop. This stop is for thirty minutes and will be for food, drinks and use of the restrooms. You will pass through more than 20 different islands, go over forty-two bridges and see some of the most beautiful water in the world. One of the bridges is the Seven Mile Bridge which is one of the longest brides in the United States of America.
Also, while on a tour bus you will pass beautiful islands surrounded by blue, and green, waters. Thesewater colorsare equaled nowhere else in the world. In some areas, one will see the Gulf of Mexico to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east along with the difference in colors of the two.
From Miami, on the south east coast of Florida, you will go through Homestead south thirty-six miles to Florida City. Florida City is the last city of the continental United States. From here, you will go over bridges and islands until arriving in Key West. The total travel time to reach Key West on a tour bus is around four hours. On a bus tour, one will arrive in Key West, at Mel Fisher Museum, and this is also where pone will meet the bus again at 6PM for departure.
There are so many things to do in Key West that it is wise to plan a couple of bus tours. There is a state park on the very tip of Key West that is only ninety miles from Cuba. This closeness of location is the main reason why one will find a lot of Cuban influence on the Florida Keys. Some other activities include; taking a fishing tour, snorkeling, scuba diving, glass bottom boat ride to the coral reef, walking around the park, biking around the island or just relaxing in the sun on the beach, or swimming. There are also several places open to rent any equipment needed to enjoy a day on the beach such as; lounge chairs, umbrellas and beach toys/floats.
